TIFF

When saving TIFF files, be sure they are in CMYK, Grayscale or Bitmap color mode. 8 bits per channel in Gray or CMYK.

You may use compression, but if you use JPEG your file quality will suffer. See the General section in the Placed Graphics section for more information about the JPEG file format.

Select the byte order that corresponds to your system.

Do not use an image pyramid, transparency, or layers in your tiff files. Use of these options cause errors and may result in inaccurate output.

If you want to use a clipping path, be sure you have specified it. Typically this is done in the Paths palette in Photoshop.
